It's electrifying!

So, Billy had quite the excitement this weekend! While on a hunting/camping/fishing trip with my dad this weekend, he decided to go out on his own and do a little fishing. He was about an hour from the cabin, by himself at the lake, and a storm rolled in. He hurried and packed up and jumped on his four-wheeler to head back to camp. The storm came on to fast and all of a sudden there was lightning striking all around him. Then he said it suddenly felt like someone hit him in the head with a shovel, and there was a bright flash. He looked down at the screen on his four-wheeler and saw it was going haywire, and realized he had just been STRUCK BY LIGHTNING!
Once he realized what was going on he just punched it and got out of there! He is so lucky he wasn't knocked unconscious! He tried speaking and couldn't understand a word he was saying! He finally got back to camp, and that's when it really hit him what had happened. By then he had gotten the ability to speak back, but just felt a little off. After a few hours and much persuading we spent the night at the ER getting his heart checked out just to make sure, and thankfully everything look normal! It was quite hilarious at the ER, though. He was the only one in the entire room that looked like he was actually okay (others there had broken arms, cut hands, looking on the verge of passing out) and they took him back first because everyone was so curious! We had about 10 people come in the room and ask him about it, they were so fascinated! The doc that checked him out had worked at a burn hospital in AZ and had dealt with lightning strikes before, so I felt pretty good in his diagnosis!

I'm so thankfully that he wasn't injured! He is certain that his new four wheeler tires that have 2X the rubber than the stock tires, saved his life. Also he had a hat and the hood of his coat on so the strike kind of went around him rather than through him. So even though he doesn't have any battle wounds, he still has a pretty good story to tell!

Even though this little event kind of put a hamper on the weekend, they still had a great time down there! They all were able to get a bird or two, and he said the fishing was pretty good!

My weekend project

I got ambitious this last weekend, and decided it was time for a change. I decided to redecorate my extra bathroom, to make it a little more grown up and less dorm roomy. I've been wanting to try doing one of those crazy paint techniques I've seen on HGTV (you know..the ones that look so stinkin' awesome, but you have to be a professional to achieve the right look) I decided to go with the metal finish look, and well, I have to admit...it wasn't as hard as I suspected! It was so simple! The hardest part was having to wait for the horribly pink basecoat to dry to do the cool metallic finish! I was so excited about the finished product that I now want to paint my entire house! Here is a before and after shot:

I'm still looking for some fun stuff to put on the walls and want to add just a few finishing touches, but so far I LOVE MY NEW BATHROOM!

The exciting arrival of the newest member of the Daley Family

KANYON GREG DALEY
Born September 6, 2008 at 12:05 am
7 lbs 9 oz
Proud parents: Greg & Julie Daley (my bro and sis-in-law)

We are so excited for our new nephew! He's had a rough start so far, having to stay in the NICU because of an infection in his lungs, but things are looking brighter and hopefully soon we'll get to hold the little guy!

Billy was out of town on the weekend so on Friday when it was inevitable that Kanyon would be born, my mom and I headed up to the hospital to be there for the miraculous moment. We had been visiting with Julie and Greg, and the doctor came in so we left to go get a drink out of the machine down the hall. Minutes later we returned and were told we couldn't go back in, but that we should listen...and next thing we knew we heard the powerful cry of the little man...and let me tell you he was a screamer! A few minutes later we got to meet him as they took him out to the newborn admit room. We stayed and stared at him through the glass for a good hour before we finally went home at about 1:30 am.

The next morning I went and picked up my neices and nephew. While traveling down there...at speeds we won't talk about :)...I was lucky enough to get pulled over. I told the officer that my sister was in the hospital having a baby and I was going to get her kids so he let me off with a warning, but not after lecturing me on how there is never any reason to speed, even if the kids were home alone! I know you shouldn't make excuses...but this was a once in a life time opportunity to use that one and actually have it be true!

So the remainder of the weekend was spent hanging out with my beautiful neices, and awesome nephew! The weekend included shopping, bowling, singing, and dancing! My favorite qoute from the weekend goes to Saige...when asked where Grandma and Cierra were her response was as follows: "They went to the store to buy Cierra a toothbrush, and me some princess toothpaste, because I love princess toothpaste because it tastes so good...but don't worry Raquel, it doesn't taste like princesses!" How can you not love little kids!

Happy Birthday Cassi!

Today marks a special occasion...the 26th birthday of my best friend, Cassi Matthews! Here are just a few things that make this awesome chica one of the greatest on earth and a few pics of us through the ages!

*She is the kind of girl that makes for a lifetime friend...you know one of those that even when you don't speak to them forever, you can still sit down and carry on like no time has passed!

*She is always available whether I need someone to cry to, laugh with or just BS about stuff! I know that regardless of where she is, if I need her she will be there!

*She loves to do silly off the wall things with me! One of my favorite times was singing karaoke at Atchafalaya, where we almost got in a fight, because apparently some girl didn't like us! Although, to this day, neither of us know what we did to provoke it!

*We have an uncanny ability to talk hollywood trash for hours!
*We read each others minds. Or maybe its just that we think so much alike! I will be grabbing my phone to text her something and 'voila' I have a text from her saying the same thing!

*She is my concert buddy! Together we have seen John Mayer 3 times, Sheryl Crow 2 times (well sort of..we didn't actually go together to the second one, but we were both there texting each other throughout!), Green Day, and a plethora of other awesome bands! Although I love going to concerts regardless of who I am with, they are always funnest with her! (**wink, wink Cas!)
*She shares my love for Baja Cantina...so I know that whenever I have a craving for it, I can call her up and she will make the long drive with me just to have dinner!

*Finally, I know that regardless of where we are in our lives, regardless of what crazy things might happen, and regardless of whether she likes it or not, I know we will always be best friends!

I had the opportunity to celebrate with her at her suprise party on Saturday! Thanks to John (her man) for putting it together, it was a great time! I forgot my camera, but I took this pic with my camera phone, that's why it sucks so bad!)

Cassi blowing out the candles on her cake!

P.S. Cassi-don't kill me for putting these pics on! I went through all my old ones and was laughing so hard at what dorks we were and I only put the ones that wouldn't totally embarass us!
