The Ultimate Feast

For months my nephew has been telling my mom that all he wants to do for his birthday is to go out to dinner at Red Lobster. We decided that since his birthday is next week, this weekend would be a good time to go. So, my mom and dad, Billy and me, Dustin and Jarrett all went to Red Lobster. Imagine our surprise when we go to order and Jarrett orders "The Ultimate Feast" We were certain there was no way on earth he would ever eat the biggest, most expensive item on the menu, let alone that its a HUGE plate of seafood, and most 10 year olds HATE seafood!

So we all ordered and waited for our food. Our stuffed mushroom appetizer came out, and Jarrett ate two of them. Next our salad's came, and he finished off the entire salad as well, along with a cheddar biscuit. We were even more certain at this point that he would never eat an entire plate of seafood. Next came THE ULTIMATE FEAST...He started chowing down, and was even good at cracking the crab! I was quite impressed! My favorite comment of the night...they brought out the crab crackers before the meal and he sort of looked at them funny. Then after they brought the meal he said, "I thought there were going to be nuts with the dinner! Why did they bring nutcrackers?"

It was a fabulous dinner! I haven't ate that much good seafood in a long time!
After all was said and done Jarrett managed to eat everything on his plate except for a few shrimp scampi, that he saved in a box and took home for later! He was pretty well stuffed by the time he was done!
Once the waiter had cleared all of our plates, they came and sang Happy Birthday to him, but didn't even give him a free dessert, which I think is a rip off :) We were getting ready to leave and he pulled one of the ends of a crab leg out of his pocket and told me that he was going to make himself a necklace out of it....this kid is seriously hilariously odd, but we still love him to death!

Daley Family Reunion Boulder Mountain 2009

This past weekend we had our annual Daley Family reunion at Boulder. We went to a new camping spot this year...the Aquarius Ranger Guard Station. It is a great camping area with a small cabin with hot water, and a small kitchen! We actually took the camper, so we didn't actually stay in the cabin, but it was sure nice to have somewhere to retreat to get out of the wind and cold!

We didn't really get much fishing in (well at least I didn't) but we did head over to Forsythe lake for one afternoon. It was a little cold and rainy so I stayed in the car and took pics of the kids just because they are so cute and funny! One thing I loved about this spot is that you can ride your 4-wheelers all over! I took Major out for a run and all of the kids for rides quite often! The girls loved that you had to drive through the river to get back to camp! Steve and Donna got this new toy, and everyone seemed to enjoy it quite a bit!

Donna, Nicole, Chloe and Korbin

The girls and their cousin Chloe are very close in age. They had such a fun time playing with each other! Cierra loved to pet Major, they were best friends. One of my favorite Cierra quotes of the weekend was after she had pet him and he rolled onto his belly, so I told her that he wanted her to rub his belly and she said "Kel, I can't pet him forever!"

We had such a good time, and had such great company! My mom and dad as always made wonderful meals, planned wonderful crafts, and made it an overall wonderful time! There is nothing like dutch oven dinner and breakfast in the canyon! It is so great to get to spend this time with my family that I sadly rarely see even though most of them live not far up the road from me! I know it makes my Grandpa so happy when we all get together!

We may be crazy!

Well, I know what you all are going to say, I should be having kids instead of getting more dogs, but I couldn't resist! A wonderful opportunity came along and we were able to add to our family! But she is a 4 month old yorkie that looks almost exactly like Toby! She is taller and thinner, but we think they will be very similar when she is full grown!
We don't have a name yet! We just can't decide! Our favorites right now are Libby, Elsa, Josie, Sookie, and Lila. What do you think? What fits best?

Here she is with Toby :)

He's not quite sure what to think yet, but I think she is growing on him. When she first came home he was a little mad, nipping and growling at her, but by the end of the night they were playing, so we'll see!

These are a few of my favorite things...

While hanging around the house today after a long, tedious, frustrating and exhausting day at work, I found a few things around the house that made me happy....

The first fruit of our labor

The forgotten rose bush
(I say forgotten because I planted this last summer on the garage side of my house which is a place I never go, and yesterday I wandered over there and this is what I found!)

These simple beauties are what remind me that even if life seems hard, there is still something out there to make you smile!
